 STAR TREK: DS9, PREMIERE PILOT. . ., August 21, 2011

...Is well conceived, intelligently designed, and cleverly launched with, a modest intersection of the previous STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, filmed and edited to appear in a Time-Line when "Locutus" of "Borg" was spearheading an all out attack on the planets and civilizations in the Milky Way.
Just prior to STAR TREK: VOYAGER, with the first Female lead, "DS9" [nickname] introduced us to a more benign minded, and spiritual lead character in the form of Rutger's University's Professor of Theater: "Mr. Avery Brooks" in the role of "Commander Benjamin Sisko" who is reluctantly stationed on the Space Station "Deep Space 9" while dealing with the overwhelming death of his wife, and the duties of being a single parent.
"EMMISARY" the pilot, introduces an array of characters, complex situations, and thought provoking multiple themes while serving up enough action to please the average SciFi Fan. Definitely the most diverse Pilot Prem

Deep Space is an epic series not only in the sense of trek but for TV in general. DS9 took the basic TV episodic forumla and transitioned to the ensemble cast story arc formula that we all know and love now. Great Show. Can't wait for the remasters

Deep Space Nine is the perfect answer to those lingering questions left by many different episodes of The Next Generation. No, not all our questions are answered, but let's accept the fact that the human imagination is capable of so many iterations of future reality that not all are possible to portray in one show. I think that the Star Trek creators were testing Trekkie's taste for new adventures that did not fall completely in line with the Enterprise model we've become accustomed. Take a chance on Deep Space and watch how some really horrible episodes give way to episodes with epic space battles that will fuel your imagination for years to come. That is the point isn't it...
So watch Deep Space Nine and keep in mind that it is a Transition for the future of the Star Trek universe that eventually bolsters the credibility of the newer stories within Voyager and Enterprise and then finally the oh-so-amazing, most recent Star Trek movie...without Deep Space Nine, none of us would have accepted the new faces in Star Trek.
